Procurement

‘Energy procurement’ refers to the sourcing and purchasing of gas and electricity contracts. The contract is an agreement between the energy consumer and the energy supplier, in which the consumer agrees to purchase a specific volume of energy over a period of time determined by the contract.

Business Energy Procurement

The energy market is complex and volatile, with many suppliers and contract options available to consumers. The landscape is continually changing as suppliers enter and leave the marketplace. The global market is affected by several macroeconomic factors outside consumers’ control. Seasonal trends, demand cycles, geopolitical instability and conflict are just some of the drivers of the global energy markets. As a result, timing the market whilst choosing the right procurement strategy can prove very difficult.

Tendering requires time, supplier relationships and expertise. Therefore, most consumers have a limited suite of options and ultimately fail to extract the best value from their procurement process. Many consumers don’t have a robust strategy in place for energy procurement and are more likely to experience sharp increases in cost in unfavourable market conditions.

Our Energy Procurement Process

McGrady Clarke works with a number of energy suppliers to secure specialist renewable offers for our clients. We’ll provide you with flexibility and tailored solutions, ensuring that your business can maximise its energy procurement performance.

Typically, we follow a process of analysis, restructuring, tendering and implementation.

We start by accessing your current contractual arrangements, strategies and understanding of the market. We’ll then formulate a new procurement strategy underpinned by market analysis and analytics. This restructure is underpinned by the measurement of short, medium and long-term risks and potential values which allow us to advise on optimal market entry. We’ll tender your supply to the marketplace based on this new strategy sourcing suitable options and negotiating offers with the suppliers.

Having negotiated the best offer we’ll present you with a proposal for review. Once you’ve agreed to terms with the supplier, we’ll ensure that the contract is placed and facilitate the supply transfer where necessary.
